Taiwan Association of Medical Technologists (TAMT) was found on 16^th January,1983.

There are 35 members of Board of Directors and 11 members of Board of Auditors. Elections are held every 3 years to vote for the new members.  Under the efforts of board of directors & auditors and the leading of the past & present presidents, there are 22 subordinate regional associations as the group members of TAMT. 

TAMT devotes itself to the development of specialty and technology of laboratory medicine, the cooperation with the government on social services, and the enactment of laboratory medicine related policies. Additionally, TAMT upholds the rights of its members and pushes ahead with the health and welfare of the citizens. To fulfill the duties and achieve the goals, there are Continuous Education & Credit Approval Committee, Science Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Health Insurance & Preventive Care Committee, Public Relation Committee, Social Image Committee, Health Care Policy Committee, International Affair Committee, Internet Information Processing Committee, Member Service Committee, Rights & Interests Advocacy Committee, and Clinical Physiological Examination Promotion Committee subordinating to Board of Directors & Auditors. Each committee has its own specific duty to fulfill and they all follow the leadership of the president to serve the members nationwide.

In order to elevate the professional standard of laboratory medicine, TAMT holds international science forum annually as well as academic workshops/seminars on various themes. These events offer great opportunity for the association members to have beneficial interchanges of ideas. Moreover, TAMT works with other medical organizations to enact and practice the health care policies which meet the needs of the members.  

To show the professionalism in laboratory medicine of Taiwan and to broaden the horizon of the members, developing the international perspective, TAMT actively takes part in international events, join international organizations, and hold international conferences. At the moment, TAMT is the member of both IFBLS (International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Sciences) and AAMLS (Asia Association of Medical Laboratory Sciences). Yet, TAMT and TSLM (Taiwan Society of Laboratory Medicine) are the co-organizers of 2014 World Congress of Biomedical Laboratory Science hosted by IFBLS. With the interactions and interchanges of ideas and working experiences with outstanding scholars and experts from other countries, the performance quality and technology of laboratory medicine in Taiwan will be able to keep up with the advanced countries.
