* 投稿摘要: Bacteria infection in peritoneal dialysis (PD)-related peritonitis is the most common cause. PD peritonitis is diagnosed by dialysate culture and it takes about 3-7 days. A fast and accurate method is therefore mandatory. PD patients with abdominal pain and turbid dialysate were included in this study. In conventional culture method, 10 ml dialysate were down by automatic blood culture system. The positive bacteria was sub-cultured. Microbial identification was done by MALDI-TOF and antibiotic susceptibility test was performed. We accelerated bacteria growth by concentration and washing (C&W) methods. We were using the concentrated and repeated saline wash before bacterial culture. We compared the results of two methods of culture results differences, and the length of time. There were 79 PD peritonitis patients, including the 16 culture were blind control tests. The blind tests results of two methods were identical. The consistency between these 2 methods was 55/79 (70%). There were 24 conventional reports different from the paired reports by C&W method. There were 3 C&W reports were negative and 10 negative were reported by conventional method, but 11 poly-species were cultured by C&W methods. The culture positive rate was lower by conventional (45/79;57%) than by C&W (72/79;91%)(p<0.001). The median culture report time by conventional method was 91 hours but 37 hours by C&W method (p<0.001). Dialysate culture by sample pretreatment with bacterial washing and concentration can reduce bacterial culture time and enhance positive bacterial culture rates.
