* 投稿摘要： 【Objective】Number of blood cultures is the most important variable in detecting bacteremia. However, the majority of hospitals in Taiwan do not meet the criteria for an ideal blood culture set (2-3 sets of blood cultures) during collection. During January-August 2014 in our hospital the number of patients in whom blood culture was 5,882. 2 sets of blood cultures rate and the positive rate was 22.55% and 14.91%. 【Method】During September 2014, this study is to initiate an educational program for healthcare workers to increase number of blood cultures. First, several courses were held in the nursing stations focusing on adequate blood collection. Second, collection of samples by using blood collection safety sets. 【Result】During September 2014- Jun 2015 the number of patients in whom blood culture was 6,220. It was found that the 2 sets of blood cultures and positive rate had increased to 63.54% (p<0.05) and 18.01% (p=0.012).The results had showed that bacterial growth rates in only 1 of 2 sets was 26.62% (214 patients), Escherichia coli accounted for 30.37% (65 patients) of isolates in 1 sets, whereas Klebsiella pneumonia and Staphylococcus aureus were 10.74% ( 23 patients) and 10.28% ( 22 patients). The other hand, Alpha-hemolytic streptococcus、Acinetobacter baumannii complex and Salmonella enteritidis in their only 1 set of positive rates were 80.0%, 66.7% and 62.5 %. 【Conclusions】Our study found that with good blood collection practice and to improve the number of blood cultures was in direct proportion to recovery rate for the detection of bacteremia.
