* 投稿摘要： Abstract Objective: Amniocentesis is an effective prenatal diagnostic tool for chromosomal abnormalities. It is widely accepted that the risk of chromosomal abnormalities increases with maternal age. Here we review our 10 year experience with amniocentesis. Materials and Methods: Data was collected at Dr. Lee’s women’s clinic, Youthgene medical laboratory between January 2005 and December 2014 from second trimester amniocentesis. The main indications for amniocentesis included advanced maternal age, high risk maternal serum screening results, and abnormal ultrasound findings. Normal variant were considered to be normal and excluded. Results: A total of 58,643 amniocentesis were performed and analyzed. Among 41,184(70.23%) were for advanced maternal age, 7,353(12.54%) for high risk maternal serum screening results, 3,685(6.28%) abnormal ultrasound findings, and 10.95% for other reasons. The two major indications for amniocentesis with a diagnosis of chromosomal abnormality were AMA (69.17%, n=884) and high risk maternal serum screening results (14.01%, n=179). Chromosome aberrations included 414(32.39%) that were autosomal aneuploidies, 129(10.09%) sex chromosome aneuploidies, 416(32.55%) for structural rearrangements, and 319(24.96%) for mosaicism. Conclusions: Advanced maternal age is indications for which consideration of further amniocentesis is highly recommended.
