* 投稿摘要： Background: The circulating lactate concentration is an important index of severity of critical illness. The proper handling of blood specimens is essential when concentrations of variables are used as prognostic indicators for critically ill patients. The aim of this study was to explore the stability of blood lactate level in NaF-K3EDTA vacutainer tube on room temperature and ice water bath. Methods: Venous blood samples obtained from training students (n=5) were placed to seven NaF-K3EDTA vacutainer tubes. Standard plasma was prepared from one blood sample centrifuged immediately. The other six blood samples were divided two groups. Samples of one group were placed on room temperature and samples of the other group were on ice water bath. Each of three samples of individual group was centrifuged to obtain plasma at one, two and three hours, respectively. All lactate levels were simultaneously measured by analyzer (Hitachi 7180). Paired t-test was used to determined differences and statistical significance was defined as p <.05. Results: There were no statistically significant differences on ice water bath group (p >.05). However, P-values on room temperature group were 0.08, 0.04 and 0.02 at one, two and three hours, respectively. Conclusions: Blood lactate level in NaF-K3EDTA vacutainer tube can be stable at least for three hours on ice water bath and only for one hour on room temperature. Specimen for lactate examination stored on ice water bath was recommended, especially might be transported to laboratory over one hour.
