* 投稿摘要：	Oral cancer is one of the most prevalence cancers, which is the 6th leading cancer in Taiwan. Potent effects of surgical treatment are not as expected, it is urgent to develop an effective treatment for eradicating. A series of chalcone analogues have been found to inhibit nitric oxide production in LPS/IFN-γ-treated macrophages. In the present study, we assessed that whether chalcones have the biological activities in the inhibition of oral cancer. Our data showed that chalcone-15 is able to inhibit several oral squamous carcinoma cell lines, but has no effect on normal cells (gingival fibroblast cells). The molecular mechanism of chalcone-15 in the inhibition of oral cancer cells was arrested cell cycle at G2/M phase. Chalcone-15 caused a dose-dependent decrease in protein expression of anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2, with concomitant increasing in pro-apoptotic protein Bax and Bak. The results from this study indicated that development of chalcone analogues might have multiple functions not only anti-inflammation but inhibit oral cancer cell proliferation.
