* 投稿摘要： Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as an important human pathogen as it causes several types of hospital acquired infections including pneumonia, meningitis, urinary tract infections, and septicemia. In this study, we applied the genetic tractable animal, C. elegans, as a model host to study the virulence of Acinetobacter baumannii as well as the host innate immunity to this pathogen. Our preliminary data showed that Acinetobacter baumannii intoxicated and eventually killed the worms. By further genetic analysis to compare the mutant strain fo Acinetobacter baumannii , we will find that some important virulence factors of Acinetobacter baumannii which was required for its toxicity in C. elegans, and some conserved innate immune signal pathways were mediated in host susceptibility. Our results suggest that this Acinetobacter baumannii/C. elegans model is suitable for future comprehensive genetic screens in both bacterial and host factors involved in the pathogenesis of Acinetobacter baumannii.
