* 投稿摘要：	The MGIT (Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube) 960 system has been shown to be a sensitive and rapid methodology for Mycobacterial culturing. To understand the correlation between time to detection (TTD) of the growth of Mycobacterial species in the MGIT system with AFB diagnostic microscopy and identification result, clinical specimens collected for AFB diagnosis and culture in year 2010 and 2011 respectively were included in the analysis. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied as the analysis methodology. During year 2010 and 2011, 857 and 678 specimens were diagnosed as acid-fast bacilli on microscopy and culture positive. Among those specimens, 364 and 595 were MGIT culture positive. The TB and NTM ratio was 70/30 for year 2010, and 76.4/23.6 for year 2011. For year 2010, the average MGIT TTD for acid-fast staining grading Scanty, 1+, 2+, 3+, and 4+ were 21.79, 19.48, 14.31, 10.40, and 10.18 days, while 17.27, 17.55, 15.42, 12.42, and 10.89 days accordingly for year 2011. After ANOVA analysis, acid fast staining grading was well correlated with MGIT TTD. The higher the grading of acid fast stain result was, the shorter the average MGIT TTD for Mycobacterial species. Identification result was well correlated with MGIT TTD as well. The difference of average MGIT TTD for different Mycobacteria species was deemed to be significant at P<0.05.
